About
The Jerusalem Artists House is situated in a historic building that once housed "The Bezalel School of Arts and Crafts," founded by Boris Schatz in 1906, today the current Bezalel Academy for Arts and Design. For a time the building housed the Bezalel National Museum, precursor of The Israel Museum, Jerusalem. When the Israel Museum was opened, the collections of the Bezalel National Museum were transferred to it, where they formed the initial core collection of the Museum.
Since 1965, the House has served as home to the Association for Jerusalem Artists. In this capacity, the House has become a dynamic center for exhibitions, displaying unique and varied works of both Israeli and international artists. The annual exhibition plan includes a series focusing on prominent young artists exhibiting their works for the first time, as well as a series of retrospective works by veteran artists. In addition, the Artists House displays group exhibitions on a wide range of subjects, joint presentations between Israeli and international artists, as well as a variety of other activities.

	Edward Levin/ Still Life (21/01/2012 - 03/03/2012) The encounter with Edward Levin's exhibition introduces the viewer to an intellectual and persuasive painter. The occupation of contemporary art with ''Still life'' is a daily practice though nonetheless traditional and professional. Difficult as it is to be innovative in such a genre, Levin makes still life live through his powerful use of color, brushstrokes and intense emotions. Born in 1934, Edward Levin immigrated to Israel in 1976 from Minsk (the former Soviet Union). During the early 80's he exhibited solo exhibitions in Paris, London and the Jerusalem Artists' House. He has not shown a solo exhibition since. Levin is a mature and proud artist who sees himself as a descendant of the European painting tradition. He lives as a solitary, cloistered painter in Jerusalem, and devotes himself to his artwork. His sensitive, confident hand achieves surprising insights. In this current exhibition Levin presents some 40 oil paintings and encaustics, mostly produced in the recent decade.
	Miriam Smaller/ Living Seeds (21/01/2012 - 03/03/2012) The exhibitions deals with pregnancy as an aesthetic, symbolic and emotional subject matter. Smaller examines the woman's pregnant body in its various stages.
